March 25th at 7 pm
Virtual discussion
March is Women’s History Month and MSUM Women’s Center is offering multiple ways to celebrate and learn throughout the month! This year’s theme extends and builds on that of 2020 – Valiant Women of the Vote: Refusing to Be Silenced. Our events are all free and open to the public.
We’re especially excited about this month’s keynote speaker, Dr. Sally Roesch Wagner. Dr. Wagner will present “Women Voted Here…Before Columbus” on March 25th at 7 pm. Virtual talk by scholar and historian Dr. Sally Roesch Wagner about the Haudenosaunee (traditional Iroquois) women who inspired early suffragists to fight for the right to vote.
Her books include The Women’s Suffrage Movement (2019), Sisters in Spirit: The Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) Influence on Woman’s Rights (2001), and a children’s book, We Want Equal Rights: How Suffragists Were Influenced by Native American Women (2020). They are available for purchase at Zandbroz Variety in downtown Fargo.
