National Guard to feature and share the story of the distinguished Happy Hooligan pilots who patrolled over our nation’s Capital on 9/11,” said Whitney Beck, Celebration of Patriotism Event Chair. “We’re thrilled to host them at the event to celebrate the achievements of the 119th Wing and honor their service to our country.”
In addition to “The Happy Hooligans”, a live and silent auction will be held virtually and in-person. Experiences of a lifetime will be available for bid including a ride in a P-51 Mustang.
“We are very excited for the opportunity to work with local vendors, bands, food trucks, distilleries and breweries to bring a fun filled event to help promote our mission and support our local businesses,” said Ryan Thayer, Executive Director. “As a nonprofit, fundraising for the Museum always has been vital to keeping new exhibits and new aircraft coming in while fulfilling our mission and this year is no different. We greatly appreciate the amazing community support we have received.”
The plated and butler serviced dinner of past events will be shifted to a more casual, celebratory atmosphere highlighting local food trucks and breweries/distilleries on the ramp. Guests dining at the featured Captain’s Tables will be catered to a full-service meal including exclusive menu items from participating food trucks, upscale beverages and dessert items, and commemorative drink-ware from the event. Alternatively, social distancing packages that include food and beverage pairings for couples or groups of 8-10 individuals will be available for those who may wish to celebrate by participating together but away from the crowd. Throughout dinner and following the live auction, guests will be treated to a live band entertainment on the ramp, which is typically closed to the general public, creating a unique experience for all attendees.
