After a long, slow slog of a recovery, the U.S. economy may be finally hitting its stride but can it keep that stride? U.S. Chamber of Commerce Deputy Chief Economist J.D. Foster will highlight what you can expect this year.
Following the keynote address, NDSU President Dean Bresciani will provide insight on higher education institutions as economic engines. He will discuss the ways higher education can feed positive perceptions of our region, broaden our economic base and attract and retain young people. Bresciani has a Ph.D. in higher education-finance with a doctoral minor in economics.
In addition, Mike Krueger, founder and president of The Money Farm, a grain marketing advisory service, will highlight what you need to know about the commodities market, specifically in regard to agriculture, which remains one of the region’s biggest economic drivers despite the oil boom North Dakota has become famous for. Krueger will draw knowledge from his time spent as a senior analyst for World Perspectives, a Washington-based international agricultural consulting company.
Finally, Dan Staller from Starion Financial will present the findings of our annual economic outlook survey, a partnership between Starion, NDSU’s Department of Management and Marketing and The Chamber.
