Description
By 2007, the way people interact with content, technology and brands changed. Facebook was open to the general public. Google kept growing YouTube as the world’s second-largest search engine. Netflix started streaming content. And we engaged with all this from a device that fits in our pocket.
More than 10 years later, marketers and professional communicators still cling to rules and practices - axioms - from a different era, which continue to seem more distant every day.
This presentation refutes these common conventions held by many.
- Customers Are Your Only Concern
- It’s All About the BIG Idea
- Data Tells the Full Story
- Safe = Secure, Because Damage Is Permanent
- People Notice and Remember
About the presenter
Be interesting. Be consistent. Be human. “That’s a phrase Jason Jacobson takes to heart when he approaches any creative endeavor. By joining H2M as Senior Creative Strategist in 2019, Jason brings more than a decade of marketing strategy, brand and creative experience to the team. His primary focus involves connecting brands to people in the most honest, authentic, and engaging ways possible. Jacobson adds, “They aren’t targets. They aren’t customers. They’re people. Speak when you have something to say. Add value. Respect their time. Delight on purpose. Sell clearly and sparingly.”
Having been an improviser for more than 20 years, Jason says, “Sure, the end goal is entertainment, but the process is all about working together as a team to solve a problem in real time. It requires listening, trust, openness to any idea, and a willingness to adapt based on new information. Great brands, like great comedians, relate to audiences by staying authentic while sharing a unique point of view rooted in truth.” A Fargo native and MSUM grad, he looks forward to furthering the success of the FM community and the similar metros our clients call home. When not waxing philosophical about branding, marketing, and comedy, Jason’s cheering on the Vikings, yelling at the Timberwolves, playing D&D, or relaxing with his wife Shannon in North Fargo.

Beginning in March, The Chamber will be offering Business Training as a hybrid event, which means we will have both in-person and virtual options. For the health and safety of our attendees and event staff, and to comply with state and CDC guidelines, we will be limiting occupancy, and the following adjustments will be made to in-person events: Tables will be set 6’ apart, and sanitizing stations will be available, with hand sanitizers and masks. Servers will wear masks and gloves when serving food. A livestream version of the event will be available online for those wishing to attend virtually.
