Some believe the world has lost its sense of humor in the workplace. Can you believe it? Some believe that predictability and routine are the keys to getting the most out of their professional life. Some believe that a life of whimsical adventures and uncanny events are the experiences others have and they happen outside of the office. This is such craziness!
 
You know who doesn't believe this? Bill Murray. You know who rocks his life and the lives of random strangers in the greatest of ways? Bill Murray. You know who doesn't give two shih tzu's about how others perceive him? You guessed it. Bill Murray.
 
In case you don't know Bill Murray by name, you probably know him as the star of Groundhog Day, Caddyshack, Ghostbusters and countless other Hollywood hits - a beloved gem of many movies.
 
So, what can Bill Murray teach us? A heck of a lot! And you know what's so exciting about that? It's not top-secret clearance kind of information! It's really, really simple to have fun in our professional lives (and outside of the office - duh!), make those we see every day feel a little better about themselves, and create the confidence in ourselves to step outside of our comfort zones and do the things we never thought we could do!

About the presenters
When Nicole Turchin was young, she frequently got into trouble for talking. Talking in class. Talking on the bus. Talking at funerals. Talking, talking, talking. She just never understood why people couldn't always collaborate through idea exchange, conversation, and dreaming wildly, regardless of the location or event! Since then, not much has changed except the intention she now exhibits to use her gift of gab to encourage others to share their stories and bring some sunshine back into the world. Nicole believes that when we shift the perspective of how we see things, moving away from the negative and walking boldly into the positive, we can truly shift the world. Currently pursuing her master's degree in organizational leadership with an emphasis in servant leadership from Gonzaga University located in Spokane, Washington, Nicole believes it's our responsibility to foster workplaces of encouragement, support, silliness, and dare she say, love!  Nicole graduated with a bachelor of science degree in speech communication with a minor in sociology from North Dakota State University (Fargo) in 2001. Since then, she's pursued opportunities that support her purpose of helping others, bringing fun into our work, and encouraging humans to be the best versions of themselves possible (Which, guess what? Creates really rockin? employees). When not having fun in her professional life, Nicole loves spending time with her husband Terry, and their two dogs, Huck and Doc. They enjoy lake living to its fullest, making the most of sunshine and 79-degree days!
 
Kurtis Karn is an experienced head of human resources with a demonstrated history of working in the computer software and insurance industries. He has done just about everything within the human resources realm but thrives in finding and growing great talent and helping companies to develop and maintain the right corporate culture. Kurtis graduated from Jamestown College with a bachelor's degree and a double major in business administration and communications and a minor in IT. He received his MBA from the University of Mary in human resources management and is certified with his SHRM-CP and PHR. When he is not working he enjoys making music, running and thinking about his next tattoo.
