Rasmussen College is hosting its 10th Annual Women’s Leadership Breakfast on Thursday, Oct. 8. The free event will be held virtually and all community members are welcome to register and attend, however, space is limited. This year’s event theme—More than a Seat at the Table—is more important today than ever before. Brands and organizations are feeling the pressure to diversify their leadership and bring more women—especially women of color—to the table. But true representation and equity require more than a checked box or a filled seat. Our guest speaker, Austin Channing Brown, is a New York Times bestselling author and media producer providing inspired leadership on racial justice in America.
Austin Channing Brown is a speaker, writer and media producer providing inspired leadership on racial justice in America. She is the author of New York Times' bestselling I’m Still Here: Black Dignity in a World Made for Whiteness - recently chosen as a Reese Witherspoon Bookclub pick - and the Executive Producer of web series The Next Question. By using an intentional mix of humor, pop-culture, story-telling, and audience engagement, her workshops and lectures awaken people to the current realities of systemic racism and the everyday actions which allow racism to thrive. Austin evokes thought, feeling and action as she celebrates Blackness and the possibility of justice in our organizations and communities. As a media producer, Austin creates content that centers the experiences of Black women, dismantling the foundations of white supremacy.
